Thongsbridge Tennis & Fitness Club

We were delighted to work with Thongsbridge Tennis Club on the development of two new covered padel courts, transforming existing tennis courts into a modern facility that will be enjoyed by members for years to come.

One of the most technically demanding aspects of this project was the installation of the double canopy foundations. Due to the additional structural loads imposed by the canopy, the foundations were significantly larger than those required for a standard padel court. Before the reinforced concrete canopy foundations could be constructed, specialist piled foundations were installed to provide the necessary support and ensure the structure would perform reliably for many years. This created a robust foundation system capable of supporting both the canopy and the demanding ground conditions.

The site also presented several engineering challenges, including changes in ground levels across the existing courts. To achieve the required finished levels, we constructed a reinforced concrete slab on edge, which acted as a retaining structure while providing a stable platform for the new padel courts.

As part of the wider infrastructure works, we installed additional underground ducting for CCTV, water services and waste pipes, together with spare ducts for future services and planned expansion. This forward-thinking approach ensures the facility can be upgraded with minimal disruption in the future.

The project also included the demolition of an existing practice wall and the removal of redundant perimeter fencing to make way for the new court layout. In addition, we resurfaced an existing pickleball court, further enhancing the club's sporting facilities and providing a consistent, high-quality finish across the site.

Working within a busy tennis club required careful planning and close coordination to minimise disruption to members while maintaining a safe working environment. Through effective project management and attention to detail, the works were completed efficiently and to the highest standard.
